The 4H Fair is over and our booth won a plaque for 2d place again this year and VFW Post 60 took 1st place again.  It has been a long week at the booth and “Thanks” to all that came out and took a turn helping.  Especially Jim De Shane who sat at the booth four nights out of six.  That shows commitment.  There wasn’t a very good turnout this year, most likely because of the economy.  So it was a good thing we didn’t try to raffle off a Garand.  Sgt Baker visited the booth a couple times and brought some pamphlets to be given out.  I don’t have the final total made on the “Marine Rose” donations as yet, but we did make enough to pay for the 3 gross that were bought and we still have 2 gross left. I should able to report on the total at are first meeting.  The biggest donation came from Lt Col. McMillan in Brigitte’s name for $150.  Way to go Col.

On Tuesday, 21 July “Christmas in July” will take place at the VA.  Anyone wanting to volunteer to help, be in the Rec. Room in Bldg #172 for the 0800 – 1200 group or 1300 – 1600 for the second group.  Or if you are so inclined, you can volunteer all day.

It seems like the funerals are picking up a bit, and we are receiving a lot of requests for our firing detail   Except for the Grant County Honor Guard, we are the only other organization in Grant County with a rifle detail that can do these funerals.  Hopefully I’ll get enough notice so that we can put at least 4 rifleman out there.  It does happen sometimes, that I receive a call the day before, and I know that’s very short notice, but our services are greatly appreciated.
